Diamond Hill Plywood (DHP) made its mark over 60 years ago, establishing itself as a major wholesale distributor of building material and construction products to the retail and industrial market segments. The company, with a network of 9 sales and distribution centers in Georgia, Virginia, Tennessee, the Carolinas (and a reload center), serves a customer base throughout the Southeastern states.
The company owns a fleet of tractors and trailers, running as far west as Alabama and as far north as Maryland and Delaware. To that core company, Diamond Hill Plywood has added a transportation services business for itself and outside companies.
Diamond Hill Plywood's corporate office, based in Darlington, SC, provides support services for each location in all phases of the company's business functions, from sales/marketing, advertising, promotion, purchasing/inventory, data processing, accounts receivable/payable, and employee benefits to payroll.
The sales and service effort at each DHP sales and distribution center is supported by a branch manager, sales manager, office staff, warehouse personnel, and truck drivers. This group of professionals serve a customer base within a 150-mile radius of each facility. The average warehouse capacity is 60,000 - 80,000 square feet, with outside storage of up to 40,000 square feet.
With a sales force consisting of some 60 outside and inside sales representatives, Diamond Hill brings a professional, experienced, and knowledgeable sales team to serve customers in both urban and rural markets.
DHP's customer base consists of building material dealers, industrial accounts, furniture/fixture manufacturers, sign shops, and the manufactured housing industry. Product offerings are engineering wood products, siding products (fiber cement, vinyl, plywood, hardboard), mouldings, high-pressure laminates, melamine overlay, insulation, particleboard, hardwood/softwood plywood, adhesives/finishes, roofing, and more.
Diamond Hill's customer base ranges from single operations to multiple operations, with up to 50 locations that support homeowners and do-it-yourself projects.
It all began with a vision. Sherman Ramsey, founder of DHP in 1945, and his son, Jack, were dynamic individuals, with the vision to develop a successful wholesale distribution network that could meet the needs of the industrial and retail customers. They believed that by responding to customers' needs, their company would be successful. Strength and leadership set a course that allowed DHP to be come a leading distributer of building materials throughout the southern United States.
Today, the third generation of the Ramsey family, John and Jim Ramsey, having surrounded themselves with a core of talented professionals, leads the company with the same mutual respect as their grandfather and father, carrying on traditions maintaining and continuously improving a strong self-sufficient company that customers throughout the South have come to trust.
